MINUTES
EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
November 13, 2014
The meeting was called to order by President Terence Endersen at 6:00 pm. The other members of the Executive Board present were: Vice President Max Alavi, Aileen Colon, Dick Gaylord, David “Coach” Newell, Treasurer Robert O’Connor and Sara Schumacher. Secretary Jeff Miller and Board Member Julie Dean were excused. Sixteen additional BSRA members and visitors were present.
The Agenda for the meeting was approved and the Minutes of the October 9, 2014 meeting were approved.
Bay Shore Librarian Debi Gurley‐Vilander mentioned that 217 children were signed up for the In-N-Out Cover to Cover Reading “give away.” She also mentioned that we will have a new library built in North Long Beach. Completion is expected in the next two years, and she also discussed the “War Comes Home” program.
During Public Comments, a few items were mentioned: the Change of Ownership posting at Super Mex, the Parking Study, and the speaker at our next meeting: Mike Conway, Long Beach Director of Economic and Property Development.
President Endersen requested that members bring forth items that they would like discussed as well as priorities they feel the Association should focus on. He also encouraged members to participate on Committees.
Lieutanant Jeffrey Lieberman indicated property crimes were down; he spoke about mailbox theft, cameras, and garage and tenting burglaries. He also announced that our new Police Chief is Robert Luna, and he spoke very highly of him. The new Chief’s Installation is tentatively scheduled for November 22.
Matt Peterson gave the BSBA report. He announced the December 6 Belmont Shore Parade; that cameras are being installed between Livingston and Bay Shore, and that 4 lighted Christmas trees, similar to those in the Bay, are being installed on Second Street.
Kristina Duggan from Suzie Price’s office discussed speeding complaints, crosswalks, and other items brought to her attention by those in attendance.
President Endersen discussed the November 19 Third District Meeting re SEADIP to be held at the Gaslamp at 6:00 pm. He also encouraged members who were interested to serve on the Beach Sub Committee and other Committees. He said increasing our membership is a priority.
Treasurer Robert O’Connor reported that we have $3,642.00 in the Association’s bank account.
Vice President Max Alavi discussed the Association’s participation in social networking. He suggested residents sign up for NEXT DOOR. He also paid for an ad on Facebook announcing this meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm.
