Meet your 2024-2025 BSRA Board:
President Julie Dean
My goals are to represent the residents of our wonderful community by communicating (especially via digital media), following up on residents' ideas, and doing what's right for the residential owners and renters of Belmont Shore.
I attend and participate in Belmont Shore- and Long Beach- related public meetings in order to share events, issues, and projects with other Shore residents.
I graduated with a BA in Political Science from CSULB and lived in Belmont Shore from 1984-1987... and more recently since 1998.
Having been a member of the BSRA since 2008, I joined the Executive Board in 2009, and became President in October 2021.
My background includes working as a Professional Software Marketing and Product Manager, Substitute Teacher, and Marketing and Event Planner for our incredible Sister Cities of Long Beach. My passions are seeing the world, learning about other cultures, creating global friendships... and my family & friends!

Treasurer Robert O'Conner
I have lived at the Shore for 20 years and have been the BSRA Treasurer since 2009.
I was in the Insurance business for many years. first working for a company and then at an independent agency. After all of the number crunching, being BSRA Treasurer fit right in.
When I first became involved in the Association the relationship with local businesses, one in particular, was contentious to the point that a rival association was in the works. Things are much improved and I hope we keep working in that direction.
If you stay on top of things, the job of Treasurer is not that involved. Occasionally something comes up that requires attention and I have found that if you get right on it problems can be avoided.

Secretary Brian Cochrane
The past couple of years have posed some substantial challenges to residents of our neighborhood and the city as a whole. For the BSRA and its members, the period ahead will also bring substantial possibilities for community engagement and gains.
I look forward to using outreach opportunities, data and effective communication to inform and galvanize residents on a number of fronts:
• Maintaining and improving quality of life
• Providing meaningful insight to residents on key issues
• Expanding membership in the BSRA and amplifying that collective voice to influence city policy
• Managing community growth
Collating information and building relationships are essential to those goals, and my background as an analytical editor and writer is well suited to the effort. I’ve been a resident of Long Beach for some 30 years, with the past 18 in Belmont Shore. I served on my HOA board for four years, including two as its president.
The BSRA and its fellow community organizations should be an essential voice in discussions among city leaders. I look forward to working with all of you to make every opportunity count.

Members at Large
Genny Hulbrock
- After retiring from 34 years in the healthcare industry, I became involved with our community through the Belmont Shore Resident Association (BSRA). Belmont Shore is a unique, diverse and welcoming neighborhood where residents, property owners and businesses share common goals. My priorities are consistent with those of BSRA: maintaining and improving our safety, quality of life and property values. I make myself aware of the issues affecting or potentially affecting our community and share this information with BSRA members. I assist residents and property owners in identifying actions we can take to address these issues and make a positive impact.
I was born in Long Beach and graduated from Cal State Long Beach. My family has owned our home in Belmont Shore for 70 years. BSRA President from 2017-2021.
Christina Jones
- I have been a resident and property owner in the Shore since 2000 and a long time member of the Belmont Shore Residents Association with my husband, Marvin Jones.
- I have been a BSRA Executive Board Member since 2016.
- I am very concerned about crime in the shore and keeping the family friendly atmosphere.
- I attend many community meetings to know what's happening in our community.
- I worked for many years at McDonnell Douglas in Huntington Beach and am now retired.
- I travel but love coming home to our community.
Bill Sheehan
- I enjoy representing Belmont Shore residents on the board. I’ve been a BSRA member for 17 years and was Secretary for six years. Rather than acting as a cheerleader, the BSRA’s role is to educate residents by providing accurate and timely information about ongoing issues. As a retired journalist, I believe a well-informed citizenry benefits everyone.
I’ve spent 40 years living in Belmont Shore, including the past 35 years, so I bring both historical and institutional knowledge to the board. By attending myriad community meetings, I try to stay informed about issues, events and ordinances that affect our neighborhood.
