City Attorney Candidate
- How long have you lived In Long Beach?
23 years - What job or past role will most help you be an effective City Attorney?
I am currently the Assistant City Attorney, so I am very familiar with the job duties and responsibilities of the position. I've also been practicing law for cities and government agencies for my entire 30 year career. - Describe the key characteristics/elements that you feel unify this city across its 9 districts and disparate geography.
This is an incredibly diverse city and I believe the residents love it because of its diversity. We appreciate the different cultures, cuisines and lifestyles of our neighbors. It's a city of many unique neighborhoods, where people take pride in their neighborhoods and being good neighbors. - Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I'm an extrovert. - Which (living) national leader in any arena — politics, arts, culture, business, etc. — do you admire and why?
I admire Barack Obama for his grace under pressure, his cool and even temperament, and his generosity of spirit, all while doing an extraordinarily difficult job. - What is your favorite L.B. hangout with friends and/or family?
I love the Farmer's Market on Marina Drive, roller blading on the bike path along the beach, movie nights at College Estates Park and the 2nd Street Christmas Parade. - List the top three quality-of-life issues you see Belmont Shore/Long Beach residents dealing with right now.
Homelessness, public safety and rent/housing costs. - What is your preferred or most used social media platform?
I don't use social media much, so I guess I would have to say Facebook. - Outside of Long Beach, where in the state is your happy place?
Sequoia National Park and Monterey. - Name something about L.B./the Third District you wish more people were aware of.
We are a big city that is really more like a small town, where people really care about our neighbors.
