- How long have you lived In Long Beach?
I have lived in Long Beach for over 15 years. - What job or past role will most help you be an effective mayor?
My job as the Vice Mayor of Long Beach will help me be the most effective mayor. As Vice Mayor, I am a leader of our city council and have led city wide initiatives such as the adopting our COVID-19 recovery plan, opening the city’s first municipal homeless shelter, investing in libraries, and several ballots proposed measures such as Measure US which taxes oil to invest in accelerating our climate action and adaptation plan. - Describe the key characteristics/elements that you feel unify this city across its 9 districts and disparate geography.
I believe that residents are unified in our love of and dedication to our great city of Long Beach. Some key characteristics and elements that unify our city are the beautiful parks and open spaces throughout, our unique business corridors with boutique and mom and pop shops, our diverse food scene, our historical architecture and neighborhoods, and the engaged and impassioned residents who work together to make Long Beach a better place. - Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I am an extrovert. - Which (living) national leader in any arena — politics, arts, culture, business, etc. — do you admire and why?
I admire President Barack Obama because of the hope he instilled in an entire generation of young people to get involved in our democracy. - What is your favorite L.B. hangout with friends and/or family?
One of my favorite L.B. hangout with my family is the Aquarium of the Pacific. - List the top three quality-of-life issues you see Long Beach residents dealing with right now.
